The eight rooms open onto a garden with a small pool and a frangipani tree; bicycles are free and there is a basket on every one. Mrs Hoa cooks breakfast to order — banh mi, cao lau, pho, or eggs — and runs an evening cooking class in the garden kitchen twice a week for anyone who wants it. An Bang beach is a flat 15-minute ride in the other direction. The family will arrange tailoring appointments, lantern-boat tickets and airport transfers without commission.
